STATEN ISLAND'S "BEST MOM AND POP APPAREL STORE" 2017-2018
One thing we learned from the last lockdown when we were closed for three months is that our customers are essential workers who need their gear. This time around we will be remaining open to serve them. We are fully stocked with high visibility safety clothing, work boots, outerwear, sweatshirts, thermals, hats and gloves.
We will continue to adhere to all Covid related safety protocols. Employees are temperature checked daily, wear masks and wash regularly. All surfaces are sanitized throughout the day. All customers are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. Masks are available free of charge to any customer who needs one. Hand sanitizer is also available and suggested upon entry. We also ask that everyone remain socially distant from one another and have the flooring marked off accordingly.
If you are not comfortable coming into the store we will arrange curbside pickup for you if you call us with your order.
If we all try our best, follow the protocol and be smart about our surroundings we can get to the other side of this. For now, stay safe, stay healthy and let us know if we can assist you with your shopping needs.
Before Bozo's Army & Navy Store opened in 1973 on Staten Island, there was Mr. Army & Navy located at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Foster Road and Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Both businesses were established as traditional Army and Navy stores. Military surplus, footlockers, combat boots, medals and patches were popular items. But time changes everything. Our Brooklyn store closed and the inventory at Bozo's kept pace with current trends. In the 70's it was Lil Abner boots, and designer jeans. The 80's brought Crazee wear pants and acid wash jeans. The sneaker revolution took place during the nineties and there was the extremely baggy pant fad as well as the skin tight jean days. While we still have footlockers, pea coats and military BDU's the business has evolved into a solid work clothing and footwear operation. High visibility clothing, safety rated work boots as well as gear to protect against cold and wet elements on the job are just some of the items available. In 2017 we were proud to have been named "Best Mom and Pop Apparel Store" by the Staten Island Advance. July 2018 brought our biggest change. After 45 years at our New Dorp location we made the decision to move to Great Kills. Knowing that we still have a strong customer base, quality products and service to offer, continuing in business was our preference but in order to do so we needed to seek out a new location. We are happy to be located now at 4170 Hylan Boulevard, just a short distance from our old storefront. As a fifth generation enters the family business, we are grateful to all of our customers who have supported us through the decades.
